SEW DAYS

The Guild holds monthly Sew Days on the first Saturday of the month at Cahaba Springs Presbyterian Church, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (although you are welcome to come or leave at any time during that period). Except for February and March, Sew Days are “do your own thing,” and members are encouraged to work on any project they wish. (February and March are devoted to Quilts of Valor and NICU quilts, respectively, although no one is required to work on these projects.) We send out for lunch around noon, or you can bring you own.

RETREATS

The Guild has at least two retreats each year, in April and November, at Sunset Inn and Retreat in Southside, Alabama, near Gadsden. At the April retreat, a quilt pattern is taught (you do not have to participate), and the November retreat is for UFO’s. Instructions for the April class will be given out ahead of time to allow for fabric selection and preparation.

(If you would like to volunteer to teach a class, or if there is a class you would like to see taught, please see Phyllis or Linda.)

Traditionally at retreats, there is a fabric swap (usually 2 ½” strips on a theme) with each participant bringing one strip for each other participant. Also, many attendees bring small gifts (no more than $2.00 each) for the other attendees. Your participation in these is not required.

More information about the retreats will be sent out shortly before the retreats.

SCHOOL DAYS

In the past, the Guild has held a one-day workshop focusing on specific aspects of quilting or teaching a specific pattern. This workshop is traditionally held in September (hence the name “School Days”). If you have any suggestions for School Days for this year or would like to volunteer to teach a class, please see Phyllis or Mary Ann.

If you would like to make a suggestion concerning retreats, or if you would like to host a retreat in addition to the Guild-sponsored retreats, please contact Mary Ann or Linda.
